Days leading up to surgery

So the days leading up to surgery .  I can tell and feel that i am getting anxious .  one of the things i have been doing is prepping my house for my return.  Even though this is an outpatient procedure.  there stuff that i can do to help prep my home.

Since i know i will be on 3 days of bed rest..  i have been preparing the house for my return after the surgery.

So i know i will b on bed rest for 3 days .  So i did a similuation to see how accessible and how easy it would be to get around especailly to and from the bathroom.

Keep in mind when your doing this your will be on crutches or a walking so make sure that  you account  for that.

You also need to think pillow and cushion.  keep in mind as well if you order a wedge pillow or some other pillow if you have an HSA or FAS card you can see if  it would be covered under that.  There are several pillows you can buy on Amazon and Walmart online that will tell you if its covered by HSA or FSA.

if you plan to be in different rooms you may wanted to see how you can set up so your comfortable in there and how you would get up.

Also if you work full time you need to make sure you have done everything you need to as far as filing your FLMA and STD(Short Term Disability) just word to the wise , most job offer STD which is about 60% or your base pay but if your job during your election period off you a chance to increase to 80%.  I would suggest you do so.

that 20% is big depending on your pay.  that can be the difference of over $200 per check while your out.

I have a binder with all my important document regarding my surgery so if there is any issue my wife can address while i might not be full up to dealing with the issue.

I would suggest you take a day and pretend you just had the surgery so you can get an idea of what you need and want.

Don't forget for the first 3 days you can't take a shower or bath.  So those of you know what i mean when i says babywipes.

Babywipes can be helpful and less mess to help you get those key area your first few days.

Something no one talks about is going to the bathroom.  you take it for granted but remember if you have both leg done guys you may not beable to stand .  so something to think about.

You also may want to think about how you will sleep.  if your married , have a partner or in a relationship the sharing of the bed could be an issue especially if your used to snuggling or your legs on your partner or your partner leg on yours.  if you have a smaller bed it could be an issue.
